Overview
Multiple sclerosis is a chronic illness usually diagnosed in early adulthood and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society understands well the difficulties people experience when faced with physical disabilities. That’s why we created the da Vinci Awards® – to foster innovation and hope. Each year, the awards recognize the most innovative developments and research in adaptive and assistive technologies, which help people overcome physical limitations.
Proceeds from the da Vinci Awards® benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Michigan Chapter and support our mission to create a world free of MS. Michigan has one of the highest incident rates of MS with more than 18,000 people in the state living with MS.
In 2008 alone, through our home office and 50-state network of chapters, we devoted nearly $136 million to programs that enhanced more than one million lives to move us closer to a world free of MS. We also invested more than $50 million to support 440 research projects around the world. We want to do something about MS now.
